Free broken link checker

Paste a page address to test every link on it. The checker opens each link and lists the ones that are broken: 404 not found, 410 gone, server errors, or no response. Working links are counted but not listed, so the problems are easy to spot.

Frequently asked questions

Do broken links hurt SEO?

A few broken outgoing links won't get a site penalized, but they waste visitors' time and make a page look neglected. Broken internal links also stop link value from reaching the pages they were meant to point at.

What is broken link building?

It is finding a dead link on someone else's page, then telling the owner and suggesting your page as a working replacement. It works because you are fixing a problem for them, not just asking for a favour.

Why does a link work in my browser but show as broken here?

Some sites block automated checks or slow them down. Those show as blocked or no response rather than 404. Open the link yourself before deciding it is dead.

How many links does it check?

Up to the first 100 unique links on the page, internal and external. Very long pages may have more; check their sections separately.
