Frequently asked questions
Is this the same as Domain Rating (DR)?
No. DR is Ahrefs' own score and only Ahrefs publishes it. This tool shows Open PageRank, which uses open crawl data and a 0 to 10 scale. Use it to compare sites with each other, not to quote a DR number.
What is a good authority score?
It depends on your niche. Compare yourself to the sites ranking for your keywords rather than to a fixed number. If the sites above you score clearly higher, more links from relevant sites is usually the gap.
How do I raise my website authority?
Get links from more different, relevant websites. The first link from a new domain counts for much more than extra links from a site that already links to you, so variety matters more than volume.
Why do authority checkers disagree?
Each one crawls a different slice of the web and weighs links its own way, so Ahrefs, Moz, Majestic and Open PageRank all give different numbers for the same site. Pick one and track it over time.
